Okay, my blog is actually sort of in the Author’s Comments’ bit of the following video, but here it is right now:

So, I went to the Oregon Zoo about a month ago, during a sleep deprivation experiment. When I got to the zoo, I had been awake for 24 hours, and I stayed for about 6 hours. My only means of recording video is through my laptop, so I brought my laptop and a baby I stole from someone, rented a stroller, duct taped the baby to the stroller, and duct taped the laptop to the baby. And then proceeded to make everyone’s zoo trip probably one of the most surreal ones of their life.

Anywho, I stopped for snacks (and because it was frigging cold outside – to the point of snowing!) inside the warm indoor crocodile exhibit, and I just left my laptop on the whole time. During that time, an entire class of kids came in and sat around the stroller with the duct taped baby and watched the crocodile.

Something that’s really interesting to point out is that this video is moving at five times it’s original speed. Now look at how perfectly still that crocodile is sitting. And even when it moves its feet, it seems like a moderately paced motion – keep in mind that an action that take 6 seconds in the video actually took 30 seconds in real time.

Yet these creatures can move damned fast if they want to. Also, the little kid that’s dancing around at about 2:30 kept trying to come up and make friends with my stolen baby. Later I’ll upload some real time footage with sound of the little dancing kid!

Oh, and before I forget, the music is “Crocodile Rock” by the great Elton John. I was originally gonna use that “Never smile at a crocodile” song from Peter Pan, but this fit more, seeing as you’re mostly seeing the croc’s butt. Oh, and Youtube, please don’t remove the audio from this video. If I really want to, I can and will fight you, because I can make a strong argument that I am parodying Elton John’s work in that I am contradicting his claims that doing a crocodile-inspired dance is “something shocking” and that “your feet just can’t keep still” whilst performing it by showing footage of an actual crocodile keeping perfectly still for an extended period of time.

Also, if you really do mess with this audio, I will question the amount of time you people must have on your hands.

Lastly, this description and this video together count as one of my BEDA Blogs. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you obviously aren’t cool enough.

So, I’m up at 3:00, when I have at least one, possibly two tests tomor… well, in 6 hours.  And I’m whiling away the time playing flash games and listening to LRRCasts.  LRRCasts are the official podcast of Loading Ready Run, which is a Canadian internet sketch comedy series that post a new, and almost always hilarious, video each week.  And sometimes more.

Anywho, they mentioned the 30 Years’ War, and one guy said that the 30 Years’ War actually lived up to it’s name, unlike the 100 Years’ War.  And I had known that the HYW was over 100 years long, but I went to Wikipedia just to find out exactly how long it was.  And then I was met with this mind-blowing piece of information:

The Hundred Years’ War (French: Guerre de Cent Ans) was a prolonged conflict lasting from 1337 to 1453 between two royal houses for the French throne, which was vacant with the extinction of the senior Capetian line of French kings.

Let me just say that again.  THE HUNDRED YEARS’ WAR, one of the most famous non-crusade wars  that happened after the fall of Rome and before the Industrial Revolution, was started in the year of our Lord 1337.  If you don’t understand the signifgance of that number you need to get inside more often.

1337 is a common internet word, from the internet alphabet of leetspeak.  1337 looks like the word leet, see?  1 = l, 3 = e, 4 = a, 5 = s, 6 = G, 0 = o.  And leet is a shortening of the word elite, which is spelled in leetspeak (also abbreviated to just 1337) 31337, and was just shortened to 1337.  To put it another way, Espanol is to Spanish as 1337 is to 1337.  Espanol is an espanol word, or, in English, a Spanish word, meaning Spanish.  However, 1337 is just an alphabet switch, so it can be a bit more confusing.

Anywho, 1337 is a general internet way of saying someone or something is good, it meets your approval, that it is “elite”.  I’ve seen this word so often, that when it’s actually used as a number, it throws me off, and to find out that probably the most famous number in all of internet culture is also the year that one of the most famous wars in human history began…

Well, it blew my gorram mind.

In other news, I have two episodes left of Firefly to watch, and that’s making me sad.

The Top 10 Worst Things To Say After Finding Out Who Your BEDA Buddies Are

So, here it is, On my 5th day of BEDA, and I’m just starting my 6th post. Gulp. So, in this post, I’m going to do my first post related to BEDA Buddies, and briefly discuss Wizard Rock.

So, about BEDA Buddies. Like many people, I was pretty excited about BEDA Buddies, and I happened to be online when they were announced. Actually, I sort of made them happen. How, you might ask? Through the power of MURPHY’S LAW! So, I was hanging out on the ning chat with about 5 or so other people (there were 20 people online, but only about 5 active in the chat), and we were talking about how we were excited for BEDA Buddies. At that time it was 5:30 over here, so it was 8:30 where MJ lives.

So, I typed into the chat, “10 quid says that she doesn’t get it done before midnight, her time.” Then, 1 minute later, the chat explodes with “SHE’S DONE! SHE SAID SO ON HER TWITTER!”

I’m just glad nobody actually took me up on that bet.

So, once again, Murphy’s Law was used for the powers of good. It’s a lot like the one ring, except it doesn’t turn you invisible. And Andy Serkis is not involved. You see, you can use Murphy’s Law to make good things happen. Say you’re waiting for a bus that han’t shown up for half an hour. Just sigh in defeat, and start to walk off. Then, casually glance behind you, and there’s a good chance that the bus will have come into view! You see, had you not glanced behind you, the bus would have passed you after you had waited so long for it, fulfilling Murphy’s Law. You just have to catch Murphy in the act, basically.

Anywho, when I was on the ning chat, the chat soon became inundated with people crying “Jeremy? Are you there?” and “Francesca From Copenhagen? Anyone here named Francesca From Copenhagen?” However, about 10 minutes later, there were some people that were starting to express doubts about Maureen’s Mad Matching …. uh… Mabilities. “We’re nothing alike!” “Oh no, this girl supports Candidate X.” “What? You don’t like Candidate X?” “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!”

That last one was me.

Anywho, though all of my BEDA Buddies seem like really cool people, I’ve decided to compile a list of the Top 10 Worst Things To Say After Finding Out Who Your BEDA Buddies Are.

Ahem.

10. “I thought only humans were allowed in BEDA.”

9. “Can I have a re-roll?”

8. Ummmmm… okay, nevermind.

Really, all I had in my head was the re-roll quip, and I thought I could make a top ten list out of it.

I couldn’t.

Well, nevertheless, I still have one more thing to talk about – Wizard Rock.

I LOVE WIZARD ROCK.  I have multiple CD’s, t-shirts, both the 2007 and 2008 EP of the Month Clubs, and I’ve subscribed for the 2009.  Some of my proudest moments are wrock-related, like when I got a postcard from Paul DeGeorge, or when I swapped sleep deprivation stories with Matt Maggiacomo, or winning the first ever Wizrocklopedia Caption Contest.  I even started my own wizard rock band, which has done reasonably well – we played a show, have been on a couple charity comps, and will be on a pretty big upcoming charity comp, and released a free album.

And now, finally, the Wizard Rock People’s Choice Awards are open for nominations.  Teh.  Woot.  So, yeah, I’m gonna go read my BEDA Buddies’ blogs, and then I will be lost in the world of lists and spreadsheets as I narrow down my choices!  My next blog will probably be about how I feel about the ballot.

Aaaaaaaaaand I’m back. Here on the left coast, it’s still only 9:45 PM. Our only basketball team are in the playoffs for the first time in 6 years, and they’re currently losing by 30 points, with 10 minutes to go.

It makes you think… it’s almost 10:00 here, so on the East coast it’s one o’clock. What about when a Boston team plays on the west coast? Do people have to stay up all the way past midnight? Seems a bit unfair.

And why even have time zones anyway?

Anywho, I woke up at 3 in the afternoon today, having stayed up to 5 in the morning watching Naruto: The Abridged Series, and trying to watch one episode of the actual series. IT’S SO BAD. Really, I don’t have much against the plot, but the music is horribly chosen, and there seems to be more grunts than words.

So, within 10 minutes of waking up, I came up with two blogs idea (and I’m trying to make 30 blog posts by the end of April – so, 2 a day), and yet, here it is, 7 hours later, and I’m just now starting a blog post. And, to be on track, I should have 8 done by today. I don’t think that’s going to happen.

So, here’s the low-down. I’m going to blog about my dream, in this post. Then, I’m going to blog about my fellow BEDA Buddies. Lastly, I’m going to blog about a new person I hate with all of my spleen.

The spleen manufactures your negative emotions, bee tee double-u.

So, about my dream. The thing is, my dream was, for once, completely within the bounds of reality (for once). No magical roast beefs or anything. Most of my dream was actually about me sleeping in too late, all the way to 9 pm. So, I truly thought that that was real life. Also, I had this discussion with my dad about legos and Lord of the Rings, and how I hoped they made LotR lego sets… but when? After all, all the movies were already out. So, either when The Hobbit comes out, or when they bring LotR on high-def. The odd thing was, in my dream-world, Blu-ray had gone the way of the dodo, and everyone bought HDDVD instead. And then I kept trying to go to sleep, but on a chair in the den, not my bed.

The odd thing about this dream is how normal it was, and also illustrates something about myself – firstly, that it was about sleep, legos, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter (because the whole lego discussion was started by talking about the lego Harry Potter game), and secondly, that the big dream-world wackiness was not that everyone flew or had three eyeballs, but who won the high-definition disc formatting wars.

Basically, I’m trying to get across the point that I’M A GIANT NERD. And given that I’m 6 feet 4 inches tall, I guess that statement’s true, both figuratively and literally.

Yeah, this seemed a lot more interesting in my head. Now, to read the posts made by my BEDA Buddies!

Happy Day Of Silence everyone! Here’s a fun compilation of questions to keep you up at night! I recorded these whilst on vacation a few months ago, and am uploading it today, because I didn’t have to do any talking today, just editing.

Okay, so here are my thoughts on the new trailer for Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince!  I’ll do a blog about my day more towards the end of the day, mmmkay?

So, firstly, I have gotten past the annoyance brought on by the last new trailer.  Namely, in that it seemed they were giving us too many trailers.  You know how a joke starts off funny, and the more it gets told it gets less funny, until eventually it starts becoming funny again?  That’s what it’s like for HBP trailers.  It seemed like too much, but WB have given us so many, it’s starting to seem okay.  Especially since they’re giving us new footage in each one.

Anyway.  So, we start off with yet another shot of Harry and Dumbledore on that bloody rock outside the cave.  Then Dumbledore makes a light appear on the opposite side of the cave for some reason.  Then Dumbledore pulls the chain from the lake, a chain that we assume is attached to the boat.  Then, everything is on fire.  Then, a bunch of images go by, lightning fast.

Dumbledore tells Harry that he (Dumbledore) can’t hope to destroy it alone.  Then, cut to the metallic WB logo zooming through the clouds.  Then we have the very odd shot of someone, presumably Harry, in Gryffindor quidditch robes, and flying onto the pitch.  However, all of the stands are empty, both of people, and of any decoration.  It’s all just wood.  Very odd.  Either they didn’t finish putting the CGI on yet, or… well, I don’t know.

Then *someone* is saying “Dark times… they can bring people together… and they can tear them apart.”  I’m not sure who is saying it, it’s not Dumbledore.  Maybe Slughorn?  Sounds a bit like Oliver Wood, actually.

Anywho, while the dude is saying “Can bring people together,” Ginny says “Take my hand,” to Harry.  D’awwwwww.  Not canon, but still, D’awwwwwww.  However, I have no clue where this is.  As Ginny is talking, there’s a tapestry of a freakin’ unicorn RIGHT NEXT TO HER FREAKING HEAD.  Judging by the fact that there even are tapestries around, it looks like the House of Black, but that doesn’t make sense.  So it’s probably the Burrow at Christmas.  Which again, doesn’t make sense timeline-wise.  But whatever.

Then, as the dude is saying “And they can tear them apart,” it shows Lav-Lav and Ron kissing in the GCR during a post-quidditch party.  It’s the sort of movie-star kiss that the pair did have, but it’s dissapointing that Harry and Ginny aren’t getting the same sort of kiss.  Also, what is that kid on the far right holding?  It looks like an inflatable hammer you’d win at a carnival.  And the butter beer kegger is hilarity.  Then cut to Hermione looking sadly at an oblivious Ron, and then Hermionely whacking a still oblivious Ron with a rather heavy-looking book.

Cut to Ron saying “These girls… they’re gonna kill me Harry!” and Harry laughing at his friend’s misfortune.  Then, lots of lit-up clouds swirling around the castle, starting to form the Dark Mark.  Cut to Draco whipping a carpet off of the vanishing cabinet, which appears to be made out of steel.  And has a wheel on it.  And a random arrow.  ZOMG MAYBE THE VANISHING CABINET IS AN AIRBENDER!

Anywho, someone, I think the same person who talked about dark times, says “Voldemort has chosen Draco Malfoy for a mission,” while all this happens.  Also, Draco looks at something pinched between his fingers.  Then, the Dark Mark is formed out of the clouds, and black tendrils erupt from it.  The narrator says “Evil will pass through, from their world, into our own.”  Then, there is some extremely awesome footage as the black smoke tendrils careen through London, and we get our first shots of muggles noticing.  It’s pretty sweet.

Then we get shop explosions, and Fenrir grabbing some random lady.

Cut to our first view of Slughorn’s house, and Sluggy saying “These are mad times we live in, mad!”  Then, we see Harry on the subway, and looking out to see Dumbledore chilling on one of the platforms.  Cut to the bridge that will get destroyed later full of people.  Cut to Dumbledore and his umbrella walking through the rain in the pensieve memory, and more of all that smoke trickery we’ve seen before in other trailers.  Dumbledore says “In my life, I have seen things that are truly horrific.  Now I know you will see worse.”  Cut to Angelina flying through the air, being hurt by the necklace.  Teh woot.

Okay, so yet another one of my little projects got about half way there and then faltered under the weight of it’s own… uh, weight.  So, I started this blog about 7 hours ago, but stopped because I was also taking screenshots of the leaked trailer, and adding stuff to them and such, but I didn’t finish before the Pottercast live call-in show.  And then I didn’t work on it again.

So, we’ll just call the above piece dead.  And I’ll talk about my day now.

I got up at 2:00.

I shot some video.

I ate breakfast.

I watched the new trailer and worked on this blog post.

I attended the live Pottercast. (One of these blogs is gonna be all about Pottercast)

I checked out the live Mugglecast, but there were almost a thousand people in there.  No.

I did the Neopets dailies (blog about that as well).

I played KoL (that too).

I realized that it was almost midnight.

I finished this blog.

So, I have two minutes or less left, so very quickly: only one blog today, I’ll do three some other day to make up for it, but today was a pretty short day – got up at 2 pm, feeling strangely tired at midnight, so won’t be up too much longer, prolly.

OH!  AND DAY OF SILENCE IN LIKE 30 SECONDS!  PEACE!

So, here is my second post of the day for April 15th, in the year of our Lord 2009.  I wish people said “in the year of our Lord” more often.  It sounds so medieval-y.

Anywho, let me say this right off the bat – as of writing, which is 2:15 p.m., PST, I have not slept for 24 hours.  And this is the second Wednesday in a row something like this has happened.  I don’t think I even have a circadian cycle anymore.  So, just to let you know.

Secondly, the Day of Silence is on Friday!  Woot!  So, since I don’t have school on Friday, I’ll have to participate by making a silent vlog, or just getting onto to Skype and just sitting there, breathing.  That deeeeefinitely wouldn’t creep ANYONE out at all.  Definitely.

Thirdly, I has a shiny new bumpersticker! http://twitpic.com/3d7vg I’m prolly gonna put it on my as-yet stickerless MacBook, seeing as I don’t own any form of transportation, and I don’t think they like it when you put bumper stickers on the city buses.

Fourthly, I was going to rant about Cascada’s song “Everytime We Touch”, but I’m feeling too tired due to lack of sleep…

I just got a can of Coke.  Maybe I’ll feel more ranty later.  Right now I’m more in the mood for short little snippets… NO!  Bad me!  Stay away from twitter until you’ve finished this blog posting!  Bad!

So, here’s something I wonder about: How much money has been made, in total, off of sales of “WWJD?” bumper stickers, bracelets, t-shirts, etc., AND how much of that money has actually been donated to a church or charity?

Okay, this is hours later, about thirty minutes before Lost comes on, and I’m still awake, but also very annoyed.  As already mentioned, I’m sleep deprived, and washing the dishes took me about 90 minutes, due to a very stubborn scalloped potato dish, and the fact that my left thumb had an open cut, making sticking my hands into the soapy water and then applying pressure on dishes highly painful.

So, I’m a tad bit pissed off right now, mostly because I’m in a bit of pain.  However, I do have chocolate.  Just a sec.

Mmmmmmm…. chocolate.

I feel a bit better now.

Okay, I’m just going to use the rest of this blog posting to explain how things are going to go down here.  It is my understanding that BEDA is fairly free form – you set your own rules, as long as you blog everyday.  And even if you miss a couple times, no biggy.  So, here are my rules:

I will post two blogs each day.

One of these blogs must be primarily text-based in nature, though it may be suplimated with pictures and minor amounts of video.

The second blog can be either a blog or a vlog.

However, the vlogs should lean toward a more sketch comedy nature, but about something that I’m interested in at the moment.  For example, a comedic rant about techno, or satiric take on all the tea parties going on, stuff like that.

One of the blogs should be about my day, the other one can be about my day or also about something I want to review, or whatever I feel like.

And most importantly, I can completely ignore any of these rules if I so choose, including this one.

I guess that’s about it.  I’m gonna watch Lost in a bit, and then I’m going to SLEEP.  Oh yes, sleep, wonderful sleep.

And I might go to school tomorrow, or I might just sleep through it.  I NEED MAH SLEEPS.

So, there’s this thing called “Blog Each Day April” – it’s like the NaNoWriMo of blogging. I found out about through the recent #amazonfail/#glitchmyass/#nopants firestorm on twitter. True to form, I’m starting this daily blogging project in the exact middle of the month. Woot.

So, I’m going to try to do 2 blog posts a day.

Also, I keep meaning to start that Script Frenzy script…

And I have that 50-word fanfic project I’m behind on…

Oh, yeah, and I’m also in college. With, like, homework and stuff. But whatever.

Anywho, I was in the process of creating a new blog on blogspot, when I went, “Wait a minute – I already have a perfectly good blog with an archive to prove that I am insane! Hooray!”

So, I came over here, and am updating this blog for the first time in a couple months.

Oh, yeah, and there’s tons of zoo footage to show from when I was depriving myself of sleep. Did I ever do a culmination retrospective post about that?

Also, Lent finished this Sunday with Easter. Mmmmm…. meat….

Anywho, I’m going to be using this blog twice a day until the end of April, and who knows? Maybe I’ll use it more regularly afterwards.

Yeah, I fell asleep.  And slept for 17 hours.  Which never happens.  I mean, I’ve been up for 40 hours before, and even then I only slept for 12, and I wasn’t even up for 40 this time!  I think I should have rethought the zoo trip.  I mean, it was hells of fun, and I did some pretty fun nano blogging and vlogging, which I will get up here, but I was basically on the move for 6 straight hours, either carrying a heavy backpack or pushing one along, and the zoo is not at all flat.  So, that would exhaust anyone, and I fell asleep about 5 minutes after I posted that blog about not being asleep.

Also, I made the To-Do list a sticky, and forgot to unsticky it, so it seemed like I never left or anything.  Also, I’m sick, and I was spitting blood and stuff this morning, so, multiple factors conspired to stop my record breaking.  Also, they didn’t have Hands On A Hard Body at Hollywood Video!  Bogus.

So, one day, I will attempt to do this again, and I will probably use this blog for that, because, well, why not?  Nothing ever gets deleted on the internet.  I might be in class today, might not.

But I was at the zoo, and they had no wifis. Still, I had a blast, took a lot of video, as much as my computer’s battery would let me, and got a lot of strange looks, because I was carting around a stroller with a laptop buckled in and a baby duct taped to the floor. Also, free waffle cone! As in, just the cone.

So, sorry about the majority of today being pretty lax in updates, but I was constantly vlogging or writing nano-blogs that I saved into my iPod Touch, and can upload at anytime. I’ll upload them soon, but after 6 hours of running around the zoo, I need a break.

Oh, and unfortunately, they did not have “Hands On A Hard Body” at Hollywood Video. But I did get two king-sized skittles for a dollar total. SCORE!

So, I’m going to post the nano-blogs within the next hour or so, and I’m going to get to work on editing all the video I took. Because I did do sort-of check ins at the hours, like, “Woo-hoo! I’ve been awake for 24 hours!” At least, I think so.
